So You Think You Can Dance? TMEDC at CCFA Symposium

Today, The Monocle Eclectic Dance Company's Founder and Artistic Director, Katie Burrows, taught two fantastic groups of kids and teens at the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation's 18th Annual Symposium in Skokie, IL. Not only did these groups dance and have a good time, but they also caught on quickly to a hip hop routine, and even shared some of their own fantastic moves! After a smashing three-performance-sell-out success in April 2011 with "Then Again," in collaboration with Dustin Martincich, The Monocle Eclectic Dance Company is gearing up for future endeavors.

then again is a two-act evening of fresh choreography presenting two dance artists’ perspectives on the flux and convergence of time through memory.

"Lone Windows," a new narrative work by Dustyn Martincich, inspired by selected paintings from Edward Hopper and flash fiction from Joseph Scapellato, explores isolated characters transported by moments that flash from the past and present.

"Flash Drive," created by The Monocle Eclectic Dance Company's Kathryn Burrows, utilizes imagery and film to submerge the audience into a vivid world, flashing by as our memories often do: in reverse.
